Privacy policy

Effective July 13, 2026. This policy explains how Stepwise collects, uses, stores, and deletes information.

Information we collect

We collect account information such as your email address and authentication identifiers; content you provide, including goals, plans, steps, completion status, chat prompts, and reports; AI-generated plans and responses; and limited app usage, diagnostic, device, and interaction information through Firebase services.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate you, synchronize plans across devices, generate and contextualize AI responses, maintain security, enforce usage limits, troubleshoot failures, respond to support requests, and improve service quality and safety.

Service providers

Stepwise uses Google Firebase for authentication, database storage, hosting, functions, analytics, and operational infrastructure. Prompts, relevant plan or step context, and recent conversation history are processed by the Google Gemini API to generate requested content. These providers process information under their applicable terms and privacy commitments. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for third-party advertising.

Web application information

The Stepwise web app uses browser storage required for authentication, app operation, and offline-capable Firebase synchronization. Firebase Analytics may collect limited device and interaction information as described above. Stepwise does not use third-party advertising trackers or sell personal information.

AI guidance

AI responses can be incorrect or incomplete. Stepwise is informational and is not a substitute for qualified medical, legal, financial, or safety advice. Users can report an AI response inside the app.

Retention and deletion

Account content is retained while your account remains active so plans can synchronize across devices. Operational security and usage records may be retained for a limited period. When you delete your account in the app, Stepwise deletes the authentication account and associated plans, steps, conversations, messages, and reports. Limited records may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.

Security

Information is transmitted using encryption in transit. Access to user documents is restricted by authenticated ownership rules. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Stepwise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.

Your choices

You may review plans in the app, delete your account and associated data from Settings, or submit an external deletion request. You can also contact us with a privacy question.
